PRE AND POST NATAL PHYSIO

Pregnancy is a beautiful chapter in any woman’s life but often it is marred by experiences such as pain in abdomen/pelvic area, increased urge to pee, incontinence, constipation, painful intercourse, and difficulty breathing and performing day-to-day activities. Women suffer in silence unaware that help is around the corner. A Pelvic health physiotherapist is specially trained to help you with these symptoms.

A pre-natal session typically includes assessing the problems you might report and also preparing you for the “big” day. Depending on the status of your pelvic floor muscles and your ability to “connect” on the whole, customized exercises/techniques will be prescribed. Pre-natal physiotherapy includes exercises/strategies to help care for the perineum, prepare for the birth and prevent any pain and dysfunction during pregnancy.

Post-natal physiotherapy is physiotherapy after the delivery. Be it a vaginal delivery or C-section, the body undergoes a plethora of changes; most moms report low back pain, incontinence, pelvic pain, abdominal separation (Diastasis recti). Post-natal physiotherapy aims at providing rehabilitation to address the issues most moms face after pregnancy, including caring for C-section scar and pelvic floor muscles after natural tearing or episiotomy.
